Bishops of the Regional Episcopal Conference of North Africa (C.E.R.N.A) on their “Ad Limina” Visit

20 November 2024

The Members of the Regional Episcopal Conference of North Africa (C.E.R.N.A), which brings together the Bishops of Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Western Sahara, arrived this morning at the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments for their usual “ad limina” visit.

The Bishops presented the liturgical challenges in the multicultural and multiethnic context of North African countries, where the Christian faith is definitely a minority. They spoke of the objective difficulties in gathering the liturgical assembly, both with regard to the places and the days of the celebration, which make it necessary to adapt the liturgical norms in favor of the liturgical dignity and greater participation by the faithful.
