International seminar in Assisi
In recent years, the date of 1 September has gained considerable significance for the Christian community as it was selected to celebrate the act of Creation. Currently, this date is known as the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, the Feast of Creation or Creation Day.
The World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation falls on 1 September and marks the beginning of Creation Time, which ends on 4 October, with the liturgical feast of St Francis of Assisi.
Today, almost all major religious faiths adhere to this annual observance, through multiple initiatives and ecumenical prayer moments, to honour God the Creator and the profound Mystery of Creation.
It was precisely this that was discussed in Assisi on 15 and 16 March, in a study seminar that was intended on the one hand to be a moment of reflection on the ecumenical path travelled so far in the commemoration of this day, and on the other to explore possible future developments of this important initiative.
Mgr Krzysztof Marcjanowicz, Undersecretary of the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, participated as an observer.
