The bishops of the Bishops' Conference of Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta undertook the 'ad limina Apostolorum' visit to Rome and the Vatican from 22 to 27 January 2024, meeting with the Holy Father, as well as several Vatican Dicasteries, the General Secretariat of the Synod and the Secretariat of State.

Over the years, the Regional Liturgical Commission, composed of liturgical leaders from 16 dioceses in the region, has had as its main objective the formation and updating of ministers and the faithful on liturgical issues.

To this end, it has promoted several initiatives, including the publication of the regional liturgical calendar, the preparation of aids for festive celebrations, the enhancement of the liturgical ministry of the lector, and the implementation of a survey on Christian initiation in parishes. It also organised a conference on the new features introduced by the new Italian translation of the Roman Missal (2022) and drew up guidelines for the instituted ministries.

On Friday, 26 January, the Bishops of Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta visited the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments to discuss a number of points, including the reception of the liturgical reform, the balance between pastoral care and spirituality, liturgical formation and Sunday assemblies in the absence of a priest.
