In particular, they provide for the Typical Editions of liturgical books; in accordance with can. 838 (cf. Motu proprio Magnum Principium) they confirm translations and review adaptations of liturgical books, approved by the Episcopal Conferences; they take care of the Particular Calendars, Masses and Liturgy of the Hours of Dioceses and Religious Institutes, approved by the respective competent authority.

III Office

Takes care of the discipline of the Sacraments and the legal and disciplinary implications pertaining to their celebration. Studies matters pertaining to the Complementary Norms to the Code of Canon Law and examines requests for indult regarding the Sacraments of Orders and Marriage that exceed the competence of diocesan bishops.

Deals with the area concerning Art and Music for the Liturgy, according to the provisions of the Constitution Sacrosanctum Concilium and other provisions of the Apostolic See on the subject.
